Governor Mills Opioid Response Summit & Seminars are part of the state’s strong commitment to fighting the opioid epidemic. The Summit and Seminars convene leaders from across Maine to share ideas, strategies, and best practices to help Maine people and families affected by this public health crisis. The summit’s theme reflects the personal and societal challenges of substance use disorder and opportunities to build a better, kinder future together. Seminars are held on the first Friday of every month from 11:30-12:30, see the link below to register.

Join us on May 1st, 2026, to discuss The Intersection of Crisis Response and Substance Use, featuring Michael Freysinger, Recovery Manager, Maine Office of Behavioral Health and Amanda Thompson, Peer Crisis Training Manager, Maine Office of Behavioral Health as they discuss the upcoming, new training for clinically-informed crisis workers and peer supporters working in the crisis system. This session will identify key support considerations like the impact of stigma, identifying immediate needs, and longer-term treatment approaches. Moderated by Gordon Smith, Director of Opioid Response.

A reminder that these monthly webinars are all free of charge and offered the first Friday of each month at 11:30am. The webinars will continue up to the 8th Annual Governor’s Opioid Response Summit being held this year on July 16th in Bangor at the Cross Insurance Center.
